nDreams Studio Orbital is looking for talented people to help pioneer development in live service games for VR that will entertain players for years. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of both a new team and project right from the start.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for an experienced Systems Designer to contribute novel and captivating game mechanics to a new VR title. You’ll work directly with the Design Director, Technical Designer and other disciplines to invent, document, prototype and refine interlocking systems that combine to create exceptional VR gameplay.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Work with the Design Director to invent and prototype systems from simple interactions to large scale meta.
  • Design and steer system prototypes whilst identifying goals for iteration.
  • Implement prototypes with UE4, GMS2 or any other applicable tools.
  • Contribute to the design documents that support the project.
  • Tune, balance and refine systems, including in-game economies, to a final release quality.
  • Analyse proven VR mechanics and build the expertise to define the required standard.
  • Seek, receive and, where required, act upon feedback from users and stakeholders.

Requirements

WHO Are We Looking For?

  • Demonstrative knowledge and understanding of game design systems.
  • Some experience of using UE4 to express game systems.
  • Expertise in Excel for modelling, balancing and tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for VR and the demands of VR game design.
  • An understanding of the game development process.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile environment and responsive to change in the face of uncertainty.
  • A willingness and ability to learn and to teach.
