Role Summary
We are hiring a technical visionary and motivational leader to join the Pixieset team as a Senior Software Developer, Tech Lead.
As a Tech Lead, you are responsible for the overall technical output of the team, as well as the quality of a project's technical deliverables. The top priority for you as a Tech Lead is unblocking the team, while constantly finding ways to improve the overall skillsets of your team members. The cross-functional team relies on a Tech Lead to help coordinate every phase of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, code reviews, testing, and deploying applications.
As a Tech Lead, you have the technical skillset and experience of a senior developer, but are also a well-respected leader. On occasion, you aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty in the nitty gritty code!
As a Tech Lead, you will report to the Engineering Manager and manage a team of high performing developers in an agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of cross-functional software engineers (front-end, full stack, QA) on new projects, from initial conception and discovery phase through to execution and delivery
- Play a significant lead role in the analysis and design of technical solutions
- Lead planning sessions, drive stand-ups, incident responses, etc.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical oversight to team members
- Collaborate with other department stakeholders in designing new product features and concepts
- Participate in hiring activities for the team and department
- Have ownership over the team's overall performance
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building custom web applications
- 1+ year of experience in a PHP environment, using frameworks such as Laravel, Yii, or Symfony, and hands-on experience with frontend JS frameworks (e.g. Vue.js, React, Angular)
- 1+ year of hands-on technical working experience with AWS and/or other cloud platform
- 2+ years of experience leading a team of 3-5 software developers in an agile environment
- BSc in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience
- Strong foundation of web application software development best practices, design pattern knowledge
- Experience with MySQL beyond basic migrations and CRUD operations; hopefully having tackled optimization challenges at scale
- Solid understanding and experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools
- Excellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Proven leadership skills with a desire to coach and mentor team members, create team member growth opportunities and delegate tasks to support career growth
- Ability and willingness to both lead in technical discussions and contribute to hands on development
- Ability to work in a fast paced, agile environment with a strong desire to “always do better”, and lead by example
