Jr/Med. Unreal Game Developer

Avant Labs is looking for a junior/medior level game developer. Someone who can manage complex projects and combine the art of programming with the art of design. You should be someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, while being proactive in and aware of all aspects of the game (game design, level design, art, animation, 3D objects, environment, AI, scenario, etc.)

As Unreal Game Developer at Avant Labs you will be working on creating the next generation of high quality play to earn games including our flagship game Elarium. You will be designing and implementing C++ code with clean patterns and blueprint interfaces on the Unreal Engine editor, will also work on bug fixing and maintaining plugin/application code base and work on analyzing and fixing common problems in plugins and modules such as memory usage, and performance. You will also Collaborate with other networking software engineers to create and maintain a scalable multi-server solution on top of Unreal Engine.

You will be part of the engineering team, composed of frontend developers, designers, game developers, devops engineers, smart contract and backend developers. As a team we are responsible for making sure that all the products are delivered with the highest quality from design to production. Other (team) responsibilities would be, taking the SFX created by the audio artists and bring immersion/feedback to the player by building elaborate AAA implementation techniques; Create blueprints, develop tools, automate tasks and all post-process materials in Unreal Engine 4/5; Quickly solve issues related primarily to Audio, Art, and possibly for other departments.

 

Currently we have several projects being worked on: Discord bot automation, smart contract development, frontend and Web3 development, game development with the latest Unreal Engine version, development of service in the backend to support the information flow, infrastructure management and more. You will be responsible for maintaining our existing products as well and monitoring their health. You will also be directly involved in the design and implementation of anything that could improve the user experience and game play of any of our games. We expect you to be able to perform code reviews and make sure that we have good test coverage on our code and that we maintain a high code quality as a team.

Note: This is a fully remote position. In order to align with the rest of the team it is important that you operate no more than 3 hours from Central European Time (CET/CEST). We collaborate through modern tooling such as Slack, Google teams, Notion & Github in order to stay aligned during working days and towards our milestones.

 

 

Who you are

 

• You have least 3 years of professional experience as a Game Dev Engineer, UE4/UE5 Developer (or comparable role)

• You strive for exemplary code and have understanding what that means and why it matters

• You have experience working in a fully remote working environment

• You operate no more than 3 hours from Central European Time (CET/CEST)

• You have strong interpersonal and communication skills

• You have strong written and spoken English

 

 

 

Qualifications & must haves

 

• You are proficient in UE4/UE5, with a focus on Blueprints

• You have good problem-solving and analytical skills

• You have the ability to collaborate and work well other disciplines

• You are comfortable wearing multiple hats and jumping into something new from time to time

• You are knowledgeable in refactoring and optimization when they are appropriate

• You have decent technical design and/or code review skills

• Experience with version control, preferable Git

 

Optional - nice to haves

• Experience with UE5

• Experience with Perforce Helix Core

• Passionate about blockchain and technology in general
