About the Position
At Origin Materials, the Origin Engineering Team Vision is to provide innovative, agile, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions to support Origin Material’s business and project execution objectives. The Engineering Manager role manages Origin’s Engineering Team to identify and implement innovative Carbon Negative Technology that supports safety, process integrity, and continuous improvement, by delivering to Origin Material’s overall business plans and successfully managing capital growth and manufacturing projects through the Stage Gate process. This position reports to the Engineering Director.
Responsibilities
- Successfully manage and motivate a team of highly skilled Project Engineers, Engineering Disciplines Viz. (Civil/Structural, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, I&E, Process Automation) as well as various Subject Matter Experts (SME’s). This includes, selection, coaching and mentoring of team members.
- Hire new team members as required
- Develop and maintain Origin’s project list by interfacing with relevant stakeholders such as Manufacturing, Operations, Project Management and R&D as required.
- Deploy engineering resources as necessary to support the requirements of internally managed projects or the Integrated Management Teams (IMT) designed to execute Origin’s large capital projects (>=$500MM). IMT’s are typically comprised of the Owner’s Engineering Representative and selected EPC’s.
- Develop cross-functional interactions with Manufacturing, Process Engineering and Technology, R&D, Project Directors, Business Unit Managers, other support groups (finance, HR, legal, IT)
- Develop maintain and control the budget for the resources managed that is then rolled up into the overall budget for the engineering department.
- Develop and drive Continuous Improvement Practices to improve project engineering and implementation within Origin. This includes but is not limited to Stage Gate Model Processes, Engineering Standards and Practices, Value Improvement Practices, Value Engineering, Change Management and Document Control. Drive engineering safety in HazOps, PDRI, PSM, etc.
- Contribute to the identification, management, monitoring and controlling of engineering risks as applicable.

About You
You:

Your Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 10-15 years Engineering Manager and/or Project Engineering Manager experience.
- Manufacturing experience.
- Project Management experience
- Experience in Project Management best practices and processes
- Experience implementing Standards and Specifications, document control, management of change, etc.
- Experience with all engineering documents used in plant design (PFDs / P&IDs / data sheets / etc.)
Bonus:

- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, debottlenecking, start-ups, and on-stream time maintenance
